22 Sex Offenders Arrested in Fort Lauderdale
July 27, 2017
According to the Miami Herald: The Fort Lauderdale Police Department, U.S. Marshals and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have been cracking down on sex offenders in the area for the last 6 weeks. On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, the departments announced that, through their combined efforts, they have arrested 22 transient sex offenders. Sex offenders are considered to be transient offenders when they register at an intersection rather than at a specific address. The arrested individuals were supposedly not staying where they said they were, which is in violation of sex offender registration regulations. According to the Fort Lauderdale Chief of Police Rick Maglione: “These are folks who register as transient and pick an area that the ordinance allows them to register in but obviously they weren’t staying there.”
